Eureka City Guided 4×4 Trail in Barberton
The trail starts from the premises of Oppikoppi into the Barberton Mountain Land Reserve. The trail grade on a 3 out of 5 Star scenic trail and takes an estimate 5 – 6 hours to complete. The trail is not an obstacle course, but vehicles must have good suspension and ground clearance.
This Guided Eco Friendly Historical Trail takes place inside the Barberton Mountain Lands Reserve. The tracks were made when pioneering spirits came to scour the mountains looking for gold and opening up trade routes. These tracks and trails still exist today and one of the best ways to explore them is by vehicle.
Guests will visit the ruined city itself, with its horse racetrack, the old Victorian Hotel all while learning more about the gold pioneering history and its famous characters and happenings. The tour is filled with fascinating examples and information on Barberton’s rich geological heritage. The Barberton Mountain Lands Reserve is home to some of the oldest rocks on the planet. Evidence of the largest meteorite ever to hit the earth is also contained within this area. The scenic splendor of the area is breathtaking and most of the tour is spent in the mountain land.

Guests are welcome to pack a picnic basket. The tour guide will stop along route where guests can enjoy a snack and refreshments on trail. Please note no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the trail.
